Local Attractions
Los Cabos is more than just world-class fishing. From the iconic El Arco and pristine beaches to world-renowned golf courses and vibrant nightlife, this is a destination that offers something for everyone.
El Arco de Cabo San Lucas (Land's End)
The iconic natural rock arch at Land's End (where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez) is the most photographed landmark in all of Los Cabos. This dramatic granite formation rises 200 feet from the sea and marks the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Accessible only by water, it's the centerpiece of any Cabo visit.
What to do: Take a glass-bottom boat tour from the marina, kayak from Medano Beach, or book a sunset cruise. Nearby Lover's Beach (Playa del Amor) offers pristine white sand on the Sea of Cortez side, while Divorce Beach on the Pacific side has dangerous rip currents (swimming prohibited). Sea lions colony at the base of the arch is a highlight.
Best time: Early morning for calm waters and fewer crowds. Sunset for spectacular photos.
Medano Beach & Marina
Medano Beach is the main swimming beach in Cabo San Lucas: a mile-long stretch of golden sand lined with restaurants, bars, water sports rentals, and hotels. It's the only swimmable beach in the immediate Cabo San Lucas bay area, with calm, protected waters perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking.
The adjacent Cabo San Lucas Marina is the hub of the fishing fleet, with over 400 slips and dozens of restaurants and shops along the boardwalk. It's where the fishing charters depart every morning: a sight to behold as 100+ boats head out at sunrise.
Don't miss: Sunset at the marina, fresh fish tacos at any beachfront restaurant, and browsing the artisan market.
Whale Watching
From December through April, Los Cabos becomes one of the world's premier whale watching destinations. Over 10,000 humpback and gray whales migrate 6,000 miles from Alaska to breed and give birth in the warm, protected waters of Baja California Sur. January through March offers the highest concentration of whale activity.
Species you'll see: Humpback whales (most common, known for breaching and singing), gray whales (famous for approaching boats), and occasionally blue whales, fin whales, orcas, and pilot whales. Whale sharks (harmless filter feeders) are also present November-April.
Best spots: El Arco area, Pacific side off Medano Beach, and San Jose del Cabo estuary.
Seafood Dining & Local Cuisine
Los Cabos offers some of the best seafood in Mexico, with an emphasis on fresh local catch. From beachfront fish taco stands to upscale gourmet restaurants, the culinary scene is a highlight of any visit. The marina area and Medano Beach are packed with exceptional dining options.
Must-try dishes: Fish tacos (local catch battered or grilled), ceviche (fresh raw fish cured in citrus), aguachile (spicy ceviche), chocolate clams, and grilled lobster. The catch of the day is almost always what your charter boat brought in that morning.
Top areas: Marina boardwalk, Medano Beach restaurants, downtown Cabo for local spots, and San Jose del Cabo for farm-to-table dining.
World-Class Golf Courses
Los Cabos is ranked among the world's top golf destinations, featuring championship courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Pete Dye, and Davis Love III. The region boasts over 15 courses, many with dramatic ocean views along the "Corridor" between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.
Top courses: Cabo del Sol (Nicklaus-designed, oceanfront), Diamante (Davis Love III, Dunes course ranked #1 in Mexico), Quivira (Nicklaus, dramatic cliffside holes), Club Campestre (Pete Dye), and Palmilla (oldest course in Los Cabos).
Nightlife & Entertainment
Cabo San Lucas has a legendary nightlife scene centered around the marina and downtown areas. From lively beach clubs and sports bars to world-famous nightclubs that have hosted celebrities like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Floyd Mayweather, Cabo comes alive after dark.
Top venues: El Squid Roe (three stories, five bars, iconic since 1989), Mandala (high-energy nightclub), Cabo Wabo (Sammy Hagar's rock bar), The Nowhere Bar (live music), and La Lupita (mezcal and tacos). For a quieter evening, the marina has dozens of rooftop bars and lounge-style venues.
Excursions & Adventure Activities
Beyond fishing, Los Cabos is an adventure playground. The unique desert-meets-ocean landscape offers activities you won't find anywhere else.
- • Snorkeling & Diving: Chileno Bay, Santa Maria Bay, and Cabo Pulmo (UNESCO site, 1hr drive)
- • ATV & Off-Road: Desert canyon tours through the Sierra de la Laguna

Shopping & Local Crafts
From luxury boutiques to local artisan markets, Los Cabos offers diverse shopping. The marina area is lined with high-end shops selling jewelry, fashion, and souvenirs. For authentic Mexican crafts, visit the cultural markets in downtown Cabo or San Jose del Cabo's Art District (Thursday evening gallery walks).
